What's the quickest way to copy a browser link (safari) to my MBP desktop? Currently, I copy the link, slide the browser window to the left, then paste the link on the desktop. That seems awkward at best....

Tips or tricks to accomplish this action?

I'm not at my Mac right now, but I think you can just drag a link and drop it to the desktop. No copy/paste required.

If you have too many windows open and can't see the desktop then you can set a "show desktop" shortcut key in System Preferences.

A) Setup a Hot Corner to show the Desktop (with or without a modifer key):

Then drag the link to the Hot Corner, observe that the Desktop gets uncovered, then drag the link to desired location on Desktop and drop it there.

B) Add the Desktop folder to the Dock (since Desktop is just a folder in your Home directory), and drop links onto that Dock folder. The system will then place the link where it sees fit, which may be confusing if you have a "holey" layout of icons on your Desktop.

How I do it:

1. Be at the page (URL) you wish to copy
2. Go up to the "URL bar" at the top of the Safari window, and double-click it so the entire URL is highlighted.
3. Now, move your pointer to the icon that is IMMEDIATELY to the left of the URL.
4. "Click and hold" on it, and drag it to the desktop, then "let go".
5. This should create a "webloc" file on the desktop.
6. You can now move this webloc file wherever you wish.
