I used to have two Macs. One was the primary one which was set to sync/backup of 'Desktop and Documents' in iCloud setting. When I got a secondary new Mac I set it to also sync/backup of 'Desktop and Documents'. Now everything was mirrored. Now I'm passing one the old primary Mac to a family member. So wiped it.

On the new computer (the secondary one) everything is like it used to but, but I would now like the Documents folder to reside in my home instead of the iCloud Drive.

Is there an easy way to do this?

I have a new physical backup of everything in case it's not that easy and I have to move everything over from a backup HDD. But if I do so I wonder if it will all duplicate in iCloud Drive.

In Finder it looks like it's in iCloud Drive-->Documents
But it's actually located in your home folder: /Users/<muzirkus>/Documents

Thanks for your reply. Sorry it took so long to get back.

I can see that you are right: The folder actually exists in the home folder. So it is somehow intentionally hidden from the user when using path finder whenever sync of Desktop & Documents Folders is turned on. I guess it is some kind of security concern or a way to avoid people from trying to move the folder around.

Call me a nitpicker or fashioned but I'd really like to be able to the folders whenever I navigate the filesystem and know exactly where my files are. But it seems this isn't possible when using this iCloud feature.

I think in the filesystem it's where you expect it to be, but in Finder it shows (even to me) somewhere unexpected.

Yes I think you're right. It's there. But to me the clear visibility in MacOS is what sets it apart from iOS. I'd like to be able to find everything using Finder or any other file management app.
