Hi there,

As you probably all know, iCloud has an option to store some of your folders in iCloud. However, when it does this, it will generally delete (mostly older) files from your Mac, and keep them only in iCloud. I have 2TB available in iCloud which means it would be good to back-up my Mac there.
Does anybody know how I can back-up most or all of my macbook's files in iCloud, but keep the originals on my Mac as well? I've considered drag and drop, but the downside is that I'll have to manually replace any files that I make edits to and any new files as well.

Thanks in advance!

Dirk.

Have you disabled the option “Optimise Mac Storage” in iCloud Drive settings? It should keep files on your MacBook, until you run out of space.

Keep in mind that iCloud is only a limited backup software. It just mirrors the current state of your files and automatically discards older versions or deleted files.

I don't think this option is available.
If you want iCloud, you have to do it "their way".

That's why I have NO presence on iCloud...

iCloud works exactly as you want... when you make sure "Optimize Mac Storage" isn't checked, and you have Desktop & Documents checked.
