Can someone guide me, please:

How do I move my entire song collection FROM my macbook, 10.4.11 / itunes 9.2.1 (4) TO my Powerbook G4, 10.4.11, itunes 9.2.1 (5)?

I have a firewire cord that was used to transfer all my files from the macbook to the powerbook but the itunes music that showed up could not be played. On the Powerbook I then deleted all of the tunes that could not be played. My entire library is still intact on the Macbook and the songs will play as always.

Thanks for your help!

i think you can just copy the iTunes directory that contains all of your music from one mac to the other. once in place you also need to authorise your new mac within iTunes by going to "store" in the menu and "authorise this computer" it will then ask you for your apple account details. This should then allow you to play the files that you have purchased through iTunes on your new computer. hope this makes sense

Thank you. I just authorized this (newish) G4 at iTunes. Only, I deleted all the songs that were transported to this G4 when they wouldn't play. How do I now move all my songs from the older macbook to this one? I think there's something involving a firewire after moving things to my desktop but I don't know how do do either one. Can you give me instructions?

I really appreciate your help (anyone in the group).

I hate to ask but can you tell me exactly where to find the directory and how to copy it? I don't understand what the steps are to follow your suggestion. I've never done any of this before. I could use your help.

Thanks.

You can just copy your iTunes folder onto removable media such as a usb hdd. Your iTunes folder with all your music in should be stored in your music folder. If your having trouble finding it then use spotlight to search for it.
