aaannnndddd that was quick.

Anyone remember the press release from Moves two weeks ago stating they had no plans to share user data with their new parent company? https://www.macrumors.com/2014/04/24/facebook-moves-fitness-app/ "For those of you that use the Moves app – the Moves experience will continue to operate as a standalone app, and there are no plans to change that or commingle data with Facebook."

Two weeks on and they have updated their Privacy Policy with immediate affect to allow data sharing with Facebook. Quick, abandon ship!

"We may share information, including personally identifying information, with our Affiliates (companies that are part of our corporate groups of companies, including but not limited to Facebook) to help provide, understand, and improve our Services."

Well, I want to be shocked but it is difficult to say that I am. Whenever a company says "we may" you can bet that means "we will".

LOL, the best part of the Privacy Policy given the recent sale:

  • If we sell all or part of our business, make a sale or transfer of assets, are otherwise involved in a merger or business transfer, or in the event of bankruptcy, we may disclose and transfer your personally identifying information to one or more third parties as part of that transaction.
  • We may share information, including personally identifying information, with our Affiliates (companies that are part of our corporate groups of companies, including but not limited to Facebook) to help provide, understand, and improve our Services.

Here's the new privacy policy link for anyone who cares: https://moves-app.com/privacy
