iPod Movie and TV Show artwork is missing

I had a nightmare with Snow Leopard so reinstalled Leopard and restored my data from Time Machine.

All is fine except now all the artwork for my Movies and TV Shows are missing (although all the info like year, description etc. is there). Is this because the video files are actually on an external drive? The artwork always used to show even without my external drive mounted.
 
In fact, it also won't let me put in any new artwork - the option is greyed out.
