Movie Format

Hi everyone I'm having difficulty playing a particular Movie file on my Macbook can anyone suggest a good free legal player?

The file shows on my mac as - .rar

As you can tell im no computer boff but i am trying learn as much as i can as i only converted to Mac two days ago.

Also what software do i use for burning DVDs on my mac?

.rar is a compressed file, download unrarx to uncompress it

but how do i burn files to DVD, i cant work it out.
