movie player...what?

Hi,

I have a 2011 macmini server, which is great as a home computer,.. I recently hooked it up to my 'smart tv' and thought hey I'll try an avi movie to see how it plays back..

& the playback quality is noticeably worse than through my wdtv !

whats that all about?

I tried QTX, QT7 pro, VLC, & movist.. all of them had worse upscaling/playback resolution, than my quite old WDTV

am I missing something?
