Can I use a single Apple iTunes account and rent movies which will play on two separate ATVs in the same house?

Thanks.

I was wondering this myself. My wife rented an HD movie through our Apple TV and I wanted to watch it on my other Apple TV that's hooked up to a different TV with better sound.

Since she rented it from the Apple TV, and since it's in HD, it doesn't show up at all in iTunes so I'm not sure if there's a way. Maybe it's different if you rent directly through iTunes through your computer--then you can throw it on multiple devices--but that doesn't work if you want to rent HD.

No. If you rent it through iTunes (which is below DVD quality) you can pick which Apple TV to transfer the rental to. The rental can only be on one device at a time.

However, if you rent on the Apple TV itself (in either DVD-quality or HD) it can't be streamed or transferred.

Thanks very much for that info.

I thought maybe I was doing something wrong when rentals didn't show up for the same account on my other ATV. Doesn't make sense to me.

And apologies for my late reply - I thought I was subscribed to this thread and was looking for replies via email.

Doesn't make sense, does it?

Typical example of DRM stifling consumer choice. Which is why I refuse to purchase (or "rent") any of the iTMS DRM-laden crap.

I don't think it makes a lot of sense, but it's no different than if you rented a DVD from a rental store -- you can only play it one place at once (without doing something you're not supposed to, like ripping).

I thought, though, that there was a provision to transfer movies rented on one :apple:TV to another one through iTunes (but it could only be on one at a time). I may be thinking of movies rented on the computer, as described above. I only have one :apple:TV, so I've never had occasion to try it out.
