Is this happening to anyone else? If I turn on my apple TV and search for a movie such as No County for Old Men it can't be found. But if use itunes from my laptop it is there, and can be purchased and then synced to my apple TV. Wasn't the whole point of this update do cut out the middle man??? To allow me to buy movies directly on my apple TV without having to even turn on my computer? Why is the list of available movies different on apple TV than it is on itunes?

Apple TV shows movie rentals in SD and HD.

iTunes shows movie rentals in SD, and movie purchases in SD.

I believe that movie rentals come out 30 days after the DVD is released. The movie you specifically refer to is available for purchase only at this time via iTunes. The rental will show up on the :apple:TV 30 days from the DVD release.

This was the deal Apple agreed to with the studios.

i gotcha, apple tv is showing only rentals, i tunes shows the movies that you can actually buy, thanks!

This is not always the case. If the studios want the rental available earlier than that, it will be available. There have been a few cases so far.

But why? Why can't I purchase movies from Apple TV??? I can purchase music, music videos, and TV shows... why can't I purchase a movie from Apple TV? I'm really tired to Apple half way implementing stuff.

***Rant on

Its funny how Amazon has Unbox that has 3 times the movies for rent, many more and better TV shows available for purchase and rent and has only been around a year or two compared to iTunes owning this space for years. I find it strange that most of the TV content you can buy from iTunes you can now watch for free on www.hulu.com why would people purchase it?

The entire NBC thing was a mess and Apple needs to get that content back. They said that the problem with NBC was, they wanted to charge more then the 1.99 charge for TV shows and Apple said no. Just yesterday, I was out in iTunes and saw the Star Wars Family Guy show and it was in iTunes for 8.99 ???? so what's the deal????

We need content, content, content.....

I feel better now...

I just recently started seeing movies that are for purchase only available via Apple TV. For instance, if you search for "No Country For Old Men" on Apple TV it will come up. It doesn't show up in new releases or under the "Thriller" genre, even though it is identified in that genre in its description. Many other rent/purchase and purchase only titles are showing up as well.
