Movies in the cloud

So, for whatever reason, through iTunes it wouldn't let me buy "Lost in Translation". So I bought it from my MBA through iTunes.....I don't see it showing up under purchased movies though....anyone else have this?

When I search the movie it shows as rent only....its currently downloading to my MBA...

I bought another movie through appletv and in seconds it shows up under purchased
 
Not sure why it wouldn't let you buy it, but certain movies, like ones from Fox and Universal, aren't available for iCloud re-downloading right now due to their current agreements with HBO.

Luckily it sounds like it's only a matter of time before they will be available on iCloud as well.
 
The following are purchasable but are not showing up as downloadable and they DON'T show "this movie will not be available from Itunes in the Cloud":

Top Gun - (Paramount)
Captain America - (Marvel)
Thor - (Marvel)
Cars 2 - (Pixar)
Lady and the Tramp - (Walt Disney)
The Lion King - (Walt Disney)
Pirates - Stranger Tides - (Walt Disney)

Anyone else have any of these show up as downloadable?

My Top Gun is showing as available for Download. I have 15 movies purchased via iTunes and 9 are available for download.
 
Not all movies working for me either

I'm having the same issues with some of my digital copies not showing up. Cars 2 and The Lion king are not showing up, but Bolt does. None of my Dreamworks movies are showing up either. I've heard of some people on other forums reentering their digital copy codes and having some luck. I haven't tried this, but it appears that apple's implementation on the purchased items is showing lots of inconsistencies.

I called Apple and they said that all of my movies that I listed above have been changed by the publisher in someway therefore they won't show up in the cloud. They suggested just what you listed, try re-entering the codes again and if that doesn't work contact the publisher for a new code. I'll try this when I get home.

I have 2 Dreamworks titles, Puss N Boots & Gladiator. Both are not available to buy from the store anymore, Rent only. Puss N Boots was a digital copy / Gladiator was purchased from the store. Neither are available in the cloud.

What sucks about this system is if a movie gets pulled by the publisher we loose it from the cloud and apparently they can make a change and also invalidate our original versions.

Gotta love the movie studios. I just hope I've kept all of my digital copy sheets. They're usually very anal about giving replacement codes. I've always assumed they were only good once for iTunes. It'd be nice if Apple listed in iTunes which movies are available in iCloud so we know what's working and what isn't.
 
I was able to redeem all 7 movies using the codes again. All now show up on the cloud.

Also Gladiator, Transformers 1 & 2 are purchasable again and are now showing up in the cloud.

They do, go to the movie in the store and if it's eligible it won't show anything but if it's not it will say "not available in the cloud".
 
Huh. It turns out almost all the movies I've bought with DC have been from Fox or Universal. Go figure.

With the two that come from other studios, I've had 50% success. I was able to get Star Trek (Paramount) to show up in the Cloud by reentering the code. I had to put the disc back in the drive and do it that way, as though I was copying it for the first time, but once I'd done that it showed up in my Purchased Movies list.

No luck on Inception (Warner), though. Which is ironic because it didn't come with a DC disc: I had to download it from iTunes the first time around. There's a kind of two-step process for Inception: there's a code on the insert that you enter on the WB website, and then the site gives you another code that you Redeem in iTunes. But when I type in the iTunes code, it tells me that it's already been redeemed, and the movie doesn't make the jump to my Cloud list. I figure I'll drop an email to Apple, but does anyone have any thoughts?

Edit: Never mind. A search of the iTunes store reveals that Inception is apparently not currently available for purchase. That would explain why it won't show up in the Purchased list...

Anyone having any luck in Canada? I can't tell if my movies are not available, or of the service isn't offered to us yet.
 
I sent this to to an Apple Advisor:

I still think the system is flawed. Apparently the movie studio can invalidate our cloud version by simply making a change to the movie in the store whenever they want. Also it appears the movies can disappear from the cloud at any time if the publisher pulls it from the store even though we bought. That doesn’t make sense.

His response:

It's definitely not an ideal system at the moment but keep in mind that it's relatively new. Getting calls like this is what helps us make change and improve the system. I've submitted feedback on it and recommend you do the same. The more feedback and calls we get on an issue the quicker we get a fix. I would post on those forums where you saw people having the same issue to call in or go to apple.com/feedback to let apple know this needs to be fixed.

Today I now have 10 of 15 showing. Not sure which one was added. Maybe they are still updating the library. Or jus coincidence.
 
well i just got off the phone with apple.

i have 5 movies that arent showing up, besides the fox/universal ones

  • lady and the tramp
  • the lion king
  • princess and the frog
  • the incredibles
  • winnie the pooh

apple had no clue why they wouldnt work.
as i was waiting on hold, i redownloaded winnie the poh & princess & the frog digital copies.
now they show on my apple tv.

dont know why this would happen, but whatever.

the apple guy told me to go to www.expresslane.apple.com and write to itunes and let them knwo whats going on.

hopefully someone reads this post and sees to just redownload/enter your digital copy code and youll be good to go.

wonder whats going to happen to the fox/universal titles when they finally become available..

ALWAYS KEEP YOUR DC CODES PEOPLE!!!
