Do anybody think that this will work

Because when your using your MBP to airplay you cant close it down because it acts like the server. So do you think this will be possible when IOS5 and iCloud comes out .

That i will be able to store all my music and movies in the cloud and watch them on my apple tv without having to turn on my MBP

I don't think so, currently the cloud is more of a backup, not streaming service. You need to download your media from the cloud to use it.

They may enable direct streaming to apple tv from the cloud in the future, but they haven't revealed that feature yet.

Apple hasn't announced yet what they are planning with the apple tv with regards to icloud, but I too would love this to work. Hopefully we'll know more after the September media event that they usually hold to announce iPod related things.

It would make sense from the point of view that the mac has been demoted to the same level as iOS devices (I.e. The truth is in the cloud"). Then again, so far what we know about icloud is that it's not a streaming service, hopefully this will change in September, at least to allow streaming to the apple tv.

Apple tvs tend to be connected to domestic broadband Internet connections, so the argument of "streaming music will bog down wireless data networks" doesn't really apply here.

I have a strong feeling that is the plan. The ATV2 was streaming updates over the air long before iOS5 provided it to the other iOS devices. Probably because it is generally connected to faster and more stable regular broadband internet rather than 3G like the other iOS devices.

So whatever the streaming limitations are in iOS5 for mobile devices do not necessarily apply to the ATV2. Since Apple's focus is on the post-PC world, I'm sure streaming music directly to the ATV2 is something they are planning on doing.

It's not all that important to me since my Mac Mini acts as an "always on" server for all the ATV2s in the house as well as my main office computer. But I can see how that would be nice for laptop owners.

By the way, I'm almost sure I saw where the PhotoStream feature of iOS5 Beta works with the Apple TV2 so for instance you can take pictures while at the park with the kids and have them instantly available to the wife at home. Now that's a really cool feature of the ATV2 and shows that streaming your own content directly from the cloud without a need for a computer is something they do have plans for with the ATV2. Music and possibly even your own videos could be an option in the future.
