movies will look great on the new 27" led Display.
Do they Fit the whole screen? Or are there black boarders top and bottom of screen?
yeah depends.
true hd looks fantastic and fits border to border on the new displays. i brought a few movies on a flash drive with me to test out
heres sort of an idea, took a screen cap to get a feel for the resolution/size of the display compared to my current 30"

Dude you've got that amazing 27" beast and the best you can do is watch/screen shot some chick flick with most over rated actress (Kathryn Heigl) of all time...?![]()

The resolution is 16:9 rather than the old 16:10. So if there are bars they will be thinner.

My god, that is such a juvenile question. Movies are shot in different ratios. The bars preserve the filmmakers intentions and the quality of the picture. If you do not like them it takes one click in quicktime x to stretch the picture.

Are you kidding me? How childish are you to think that? Do you not realize that it's the resolution of the file that causes those black bars to appear. The black bars don't preserve the quality of the picture but are just the result of maintaining an aspect ratio... grow up.(I suppose sarcasm doesn't translate well over the internet, but lighten up a bit)
I have never thought of it as black bars covering the movie, but as the movie being projected onto a black background, just as there is normally space around the movie when it is projected onto a white background at the theater.
For the record there are 2 types of bar - those 'hard crops' that are actually on the film itself (i.e. a 2:35 academy crop that sits on a 16:9 movie) and those 'black bars' that appear when watching a full frame 16:9 film on a 16:10 display. When watching a 16:9 film with an academy crop on a 16:10 display the bars will appear even higher.
And you know exactly who she is, and what movie thats is by just guessing? Something tells me you also like the movie enough to recognize it!

The word you are looking for is aspect ratio
anyway, back to the discussion...
I really hope they come out with an adapter for blu-ray devices.... its really a huge SHAME that with such a nice display we wont be able to watch full hd video![]()
Yes, I suppose it's the aspect, but the resolution is a 16x9 ratio. I still stand by my words!![]()
