Moving an old windows image to my bootcamp partition

Hello,

I'm trying to use an existing windows image I have (I'm trying to switch computers) by pulling it over into my windows xp / bootcamp partition. So far all of my attempts using windows applications that either image the drive or copy all the files on my existing windows laptp has not worked. Even though windows says its formatting in NTFS or FAT32 my utility isnt recognizing the bootcamp partition as a valid partition under either of these.

If anyone knows of an application that I can load on my existing windows laptop, then image it, then load that image into my boot camp partition I would greatly appreciate it.

AFAIK You can only install windows from a Win XP SP2 CD. If you image over anything else, you won't have the drivers necassary.

Yeah, I've got windows installed fine on the new bootcamp partition. Now I'm trying to use a backup utility to restore the backup I'm making on my existing windows laptop over to my MBP. I know I'm going to have to re-install the drivers and make some hardware adjustments once I recover to the new system

I'm just looking for a utility that will actually image my old system and restore to my MBP Bootcamp partition.

I just got my MBP 2.33 and I am facing the same situation:
how to image the Winxp pro sp2 on my acer to MBP.
I am looking at the Acronis TrueImage workstation at the moment.

If you buy another Aconis "add on" - "Universal Restore" then one should do an image copy of existing partition (or HD) and transfer it over to a new computer even if the hardware (and MBP in that case is completely differenc HW) is different. It deals with HAL (harware layer od something) - I am not an expert in that. But it might work.
If there is a volunteer over in US that can do a call to Acronis and ask if it is possible to do thet kind of image OS transfer with their software , and if they already tried it (!) that would save many of us dozens of installation hours. BTW both softwares needed cost together round $100 - not bad if it works.
