I’ve moved from the USA to the UK and want to move my Apple ID over to the uk store. Will it transfer all my purchased music and movies across so that I can stream them etc from my Apple TV. Or basically will it show them in the cloud.

Has anyone done this? I’ve read mixed reviews online.

Australia to Canada it worked but lost some but people who moved to Japan it didn’t move any. I’d assume that USA to uk would be more like the Australia to Canada example.

Apple have now confirmed it will but I’m not overly confident.

Update!

I got impatient and have risked it and its worked! I had 592 movies and they all appear and most play but there are some that say they won't play as they are still being modified. I'm not sure if that's something to do with apples back end and it's transferring over still?

as an example Toy Story 1 and 2 play but 3 and 4 don't. same with pirates of carribean series.

I'm hoping they will all follow over in time.

I just reset my Apple TV and logged in with this account and it’s lost half of the library. All the ones that said being processed now appear with the buy button.

So that’s 592 movies to 296 and I’ve also lost loads of tv shows.

Quite a bit gutting but must admit that my main favourites are there and part of reason the library was so large was from digital codes which I got cheap.

Now the big question is do I risk it all again and now merge this new account with my existing uk account!?

Will it lose more or will merge with the other uk purchases!

I moved from Finland to Poland and had to create a new Apple ID.
No idea why Apple makes things so difficult.

Yeah! I’ve just decided to create a UK one and i was able to move my one I mentioned above back to America and its luckily restored all my purchases.

it does allow me to have a UK iCloud for App Store purchases email and photos etc and then have a separate one (my USA one) logged in for just video. I’ve just been able to flip back and forth so just a minor convenience I guess.

I just have too much stuff to abandon and start again .

Maybe you can try Family Sharing with your 2 Apple IDs, and see if they both get access to the purchased media.

I suggest trying the one with the most media as Family Organizer first, then see if subsidiary (Family member) ID has access. Even if that works, I'd probably still test the inverse of that, just to see if it's bi-directional.

Maybe also try a 3rd Apple ID where it joins as a family member, and you switch the country or region on that one, just to see if there are limits on sharing when crossing country boundaries.

Also try different country combos, like Canada + US, UK + US, UK + Canada, Canada + Australia, etc.

EDIT
Two important limitations are noted here, at bottom of page:
Remember, you can only join one family at a time, and you can only switch to a different family group once per year.
Below that is another limitation, as footnote 1:
Not all content is eligible to be shared.
Unfortunately, I didn't see anything saying what might be ineligible.

I think there may be variations in legal availability of cuts for certain titles, for example the rating systems are different and some scenes may be ok for the US titles and not ok for the UK versions (and vice versa). Unrated titles don’t exist in the UK for example.
