I'd like to get more and more disconnected from Google and their services. I've already done this in a lot of ways, but the biggest area left is Gmail.

The odd thing for me is that iCloud requires a non-Apple email address in order to have an account. So how can a person move away from Gmail entirely?

Any suggestions on how to migrate?

I'm looking to do this as well sorry i'm not of much help but I just wanted to post to have the footnote so I can come back to it later. I'm trying to move away from google services as well trying to get more integration.

When I try to make my icloud address my primary one for my Apple ID, it won't allow it. Seems silly.

Apple requires that AppleIDs be associated with non-Apple email accounts.

You don't have to use gmail, though. There are plenty of other free email providers.
