Moving between Android phones? How do I do it?

Hello,
I need some insights from Android users...
I was wondering...
WIth my iPhone, I have my iTunes full backup. If I upgrade my phone to a new one, I just connect my old phone to the Macbook, do a full backup, connect the new phone, do a full restore, and my new phone has everything there.
My contacts, SMS messages, Settings, Pictures, Camera Roll, Apps, App data like save games and progress on games, you get it.

How is it on android?
Suppose I have a Galaxy S4 I have been using for a few months. I have it set up, I have SMS messages on it, data, emails, I have 80% of angry birds complete, I have 2000 pictures on my camera roll, i have some MP3 music...
Then I upgrade to a Note 3. Is there a way to transfer all my data to the new android without losing it? Like I can on Apple?

You do this with Samsung Kies. Not as smooth a transition as in iTunes, but it basically works.

Yes - Use "Transfer Between Devices". It could even get some iPhone settings and data.

Set your current Galaxy phone to store all your photos, videos,music, games on the external SD card. Then when you get a new Galaxy, just pop got old SD card into the new Galaxy phone.

You can use Helium app on the Playstore as well.

Without having your phone rooted this is probably the most reliable method that I have been able to find and have done it many times but have only tried it on the same phone. I normally would use ES file Explorer and compress all the files/folders on the internal storage into a single zip file and then save that zip file onto your external SD card. Move the SD card to your new phone and unzip the all file/folders back into the same directory that you originally had them on your old phone. This process is much quicker if you already stored all of your pictures and media files on the SD card since then you wouldn't need to zip and move them.

Using Helium is a MUST if you want to save your app data. Almost all the other methods for non rooted phones I've found for saving apps do not save app data, it usually only saves and restores the app itself. This would cause you to lose your angry birds score. I have not tried kies yet so I'm not sure if it saves app data. Helium can save and restore the app and the data onto your SD card. Hope this helps

Pay for the full version of Helium. It's worth it. Multiple app+data saves in the cloud, computer, sd, phone, etc. Super slick.

Yep, pay for Helium if you aren't rooted.

If you are rooted, Titanium Backup saved to Google Drive or Dropbox or SD card.

Best part is, no computer needed. And no crappy iTunes b.s.

Except TiBu requires root, not every cares to or CAN root their phone.

In both the android devices configure Google Play with the same Gmail ID. Then in your Google Play account purchase list you will have list of all the apps that you have downloaded till date. Just plug the required device and download the app that you require to the device you desire.
