Am using FCP 4.0 and would like to create a moving filmstrip. Any ideas on how to do that in FCP 4.0 or any other Mac compatible program?

Thanks :)

be....more...specific?

What do you mean? Make it look like 24fps film?

Have sprockets running down the sides?

Scratches and dust?

what?

Assuming you want a sprocketed "filmstrip" that scrolls up or down the page, you'll need an alpha channel image for the film and a bunch of frame grabs or short clips scaled down to fir on the film. The rest is just keyframing.

I did this a few years ago in FCP4 on a G4 dualie, as I recall, the composite was about 13 layers deep and comprised about 350 video clips. It got a little bulky, but once you have a few clips in, you can start copying and pasting attributes to keep it consistent. you may want a little blur on the clips to prevent flickering.

Do yourself a favor, define what you want before you start or it'll take you a very long time.
