I have just given my better half a no-SIM iPhone 5S as a replacement for her xPeria. How is she to transfer her material from the xPeria to the iPhone using the same SIM-card ?

You have app called "Move to iOS " on Google Play Store and you can use it to set iPhone as new from scratch... Google for this way

Can I download that on to the iPhone, or must I download it on to the xPeria and go from there ? If the latter, must I use the same SIM-card, or can I achieve the result by putting a new SIM-card into the xPeria ?

Thank you all, what I had not realised is that the SIM-card is necessary only for reaching the telephone-network, and that the whole exercise could be accomplished without having any SIM-card at all in the xPeria. All is now well !
