I know it's dumb, but it's not for me, it's for my boss. He just got a new PowerMacG4, and wants to use the confrotable Netscape as his browser and email client. He has been using Mozilla for OS X on an iMac350. I want to move his:

-Bookmarks (easy, I've done this already)
-Address Book(Also easy, I've done this already)
-Settings(ie Servers, mailboxes, preferences)
-Email(Don't see how to do this one, easily)

The first two pose no problem, however I have found the last two nearly, if not totally imposible. The Mozilla and Netscape versions are 1.4 and 7.1 respectively. Since Netscape is based on Mozilla, I would have thought it would be easy to just "Drag and Drop" profiles, but Nooooo:confused:

If I just drag the profile, Netscape doesn't recoginize it as a valid profile. If I drag the entire contents of the Mozilla folder under (HD:users:library:Mozilla), I get an error message saying that this profile is already in use. Or if I do the same as above, and disconnect the networked drive from the old computer, I get an error message saying it can't find the profile folder.

As a last ditch effort I could just email the thousands (Yes, he doesn't ever just throw something out, just leaves it in the trash for archival purposes) of emails to a special mailbox, and retrieve them on the new computer. It is fairly easy to re-create the settings from his old computer, just thought it might be more efficient to copy those settings.

Strange I just drag and drop the actual applications into the folder, and when the app starts choose the profile i want to use.

Thus I'm using the same profile for several different copies of Netscape and Mozilla, since they all go to the same Mozilla Preferences folder.

I could have checked the box that says to stop displaying the startup screen, but that would mean I can't keep a couple versions of Netscape and Mozilla on the machine at the same time under OS X (the new app seems to crash when it hits one of the sites that gets around the pop-up blocker, so I use the older app for that site).

OK, the first time I simply made a copy of the profiles folder on the old machine, then moved it over to the new machine. This time I copied the entire Mozilla folder to the new machine over the network, and it worked. I don't know what the difference is, but it worked.

Thanks.
