Moving from PC to MacBook Pro - Is there a way to keep my iPhone's app data?

I've tried Googling this question, but can't seem to find a definitive solution that allows me to keep my application data and iPhone preferences.

I've got an iPhone 3G S which I have tuned right to perfection. All of my apps are organized perfectly on 4 pages and I have tons of app settings and data compiled on the iPhone (save games, application data, preferences, mileage log files from RoadTrip, etc).

Now, however, I'll be moving to a MacBook Pro next week. I don't really give a hoot about my playlists or playcounts on my songs, but I would simply like to know if moving from a PC to a Mac on iTunes will wipe out all of application data on my iPhone and make me start from scratch?

Syncing the contacts, music, calendar, etc isn't a big deal to me (that should be easy). I just need my application data.

Or if it does wipe it out, is there a way for me to save my settings beforehand and restore them on a Mac?

I just did it. I imported all my apps and songs into itunes before I synced. then before it asks to erase everything I did a backup. but when it was done syncing to the new computer I had lost nothing all the apps were like they were before even my book was on the right page. I was surprised it was like that without a restore. this was from a pc to my first mac.

So you just copied your app directory from your PC and your music directory to the new Mac and everything was all peachy?

it all was on an external drive but yes then I used itunes to import it all since it needed to be put on another drive anyway. but I was afraid I would have to do a restore but never did.
not sure if when the erase happened it did not delete the app data or what. but I never lost anything.
now contacts and calenders may be different I sync them to google. those may get erased and replaced.

Thanks for the info. My iTunes music library for my PC is on an external USB hard drive. My app directory, however, is on my laptop's internal SSD IIRC. I'll just back the app directory up to my external HDD and copy it over, then copy my music directory over to the new Mac as well.

I forgot I copied the apps to the itunes folder on my external. just to be safe I coped the whole itunes folder.
