Moving from Vaio P to MBA (11 or 13??), anybody else in the same situation???

Hi everybody, here's my point:

I'm now using a Vaio P as my only pc (I gave my alu MB to my little brother) but I'm really HATING it because of the terrible performances, the pointing stick but specially for the horrible display.

At the beginning I tought it was perfect for me (I'm a ship crew member using it just for browsing, chatting, emailing etc.... I just watch movies alone in my cabin sometimes..) but after a while I understood that it is completely unusable, at least for me..

Anybody else here owning a Vaio P? Could you please tell me how do you feel with the 11.6? Same situation?

I could buy the 13 inch, but the size is VERY importanto for me, while traveling and also while using it in a VERY SMALL space like a ship's cabin..

PS: I have no chance to visit any apple store so I will order online without having never see it!!

Night and day. I bought the Vaio P for my little Linux machine and was disappointed with sub-par performance and drivers. The 11" for which I am now typing is a joy. I bought a 12" powerbook the day they came out and this little laptop reminds me of that machine. I'd say there is nothing you won't like coming to a 11 from the Sony P. You are already accustom to little laptops and merely changing models. Do so quickly

I work at sea myself... Here's a pic of my 13"MB on the wee table I made for my bunk!

I have ordered the 11 inch, purely because even the 13 inch is a pain to lug around on flights so often. I did buy the ipad as a flight entertainment thingy, (primarily), but I still need to take a computer. Taking the ipad, and 11 inch is a lot better, for me, than the 13" MB

I also have the Sony P. You are right about it being unusable. I got rid of it and bought a Sony TT and now am replacing that with the 11inch MBA. You will see a HUGE difference coming from the Sony P.

If you've been using a VAIO P as an only PC (!!), the 11" MBA will feel like an iMac in comparison. No reason to go to 13".

hi there, i had a vaio as well for a year but was or felt much smaller than the mbs 11.6" im typing on and got today! This probably is the best of both worlds for you, not to mention full size keyboard. good luck!

I totally agree , that's exactly what I was thinking about, sounds like xmas will come earlier this year... I'll disembark in a week and order both as soon as I'll be back at home, maybe before geerting my parents... ahahahah

...I'd rather use my iPod Touch full time that try and use a Sony P as my only "laptop"... our local NEX got in 3 of them when they were $899.99 and they all sold in about a week... they were all returned with in two weeks...

They sat on the clearance shelf for about 2 months until the NEX sent them back to Sony since Sony wouldn't allow NEX to discount them any further...

i have a vaio P with a 64SSD, W7 home premium and 1.86 Z540.

Performance is quite ok for me. I think you have the 1.3ghz model right?

Ive actually gotten used to the screen and i like the P's screen!

If i can survive with an 8" screen for outside use and a HP touchsmart with 23" at home i get why people would complain an 11.6" is too small.
