Hi,

I read on here that I could if you did a factory restore with a Vodafone sim in the iPhone it will unlock from O2 and lock it to Vodafone?

I just tried it but it doesn't work, have I been dreaming again???

Thanks

Mark

Has anyone managed to get an iPhone unlocked this way yet?

Phoned O2 today who have no record of our requests. (We did two iPhones on the same day, two different accounts)

Pah.

happend to a few people some reason not all requests are getting through to O2 it seems, is it a payg sim? if so have you made sure it has £15 credit on it?

done mine ages ago, I didn't get a confirmation text, just tried another carriers sim after 6-7 days and it worked. Then when I put my O2 sim back in I received the text...

I actually remember the same thing. It was around the few days before/after O2's exclusivity finished, so it must have been an Orange switch. My recollection was that someone did exactly what you described and it got locked to Orange. I'll keep looking - out of interest mainly - I think it might have been put down to fluke...

p.s. Just found the thread - https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/814608/

Haven't reviewed it, but you weren't dreaming...

I'd advise to post the request again, they have been known to lose them. But in the end pretty much all the O2 users on this forum did get their unlocks done. Time taken varied from a few days to a few weeks.

I moved a contract iphone from o2 to Vodafone last month. I filled in the unlock form on the day that it became available, but when I'd heard nothing after 10 days I filled it in again. Once I'd re-submitted the txt appeared the next day.

I did this back in Novemeber and it did take about a week for the text to come through. I'm now on a vodafone 1 month sim and am very happy - though I miss visual voicemail :( but don't miss the extra money on the contract :)

Sometimes you never get a text (I never did) but when you plug it into iTunes it will unlock it for you.
