Hi guys (and girls)!

I know this question has been asked a million times but I can't seem to find an answer for my specific needs...

I'm moving from PC to MAC.

On my PC (iTunes 11):
The itunes library is in "user/music/iTunes"
My music in on a external drive on something like "d:/music" because I don't have much room on my HD.

What I want to setup on my brand new iMac (which will be arriving in the next few days...) is to have it all on my primary HD (3TB Fusion) in my "Music" folder.

How do I do this without losing all my library info, without getting exclamation points in iTunes, without duplicating all my files?

Thank you very much for your help! :D

You just drag and drop the entire iTunes library folder and rewrite over the default folder on your new iMac. Everything will be preserved.

You will get exclamation points because the music will most likely now be in a new directory. Don't worry though after pointing a couple songs to your new location iTunes will ask if you want it to search and find your music. It'll do it all by itself. :D

I did this back in 2009 after going from Windows to OS X. I edited the XML file for the library in notepad adjusting to the new path on my Mac. Then copied all files over, opened iTunes and everything was there, perfectly.

Tank you very much. I guess I'll let iTunes do the job for me. ;)

I'll try to have a look at the XML, but I think I'm just gonna go with the exclamation points and the automatic database repair. :)

And again thank you for your help!

Yes that was the easiest for me...I was prepared to go that route if need be but didn't have to. It's nice that it actually even transferred my play count, all playlists, ratings, and even album art was intact. :):D
