Hello,

i want to move my music library which consists of apple music/ downloaded music and purchased music.

can i copy the entire itunes media folder and just place it on my new macbook and open the new music app and it will work or do i have other things i need to do first?

Yes copy that entire folder onto the new Mac and then “hold the option key“ whole opening the new music app and it should ask to Locate the folder -

Once you have manually selected the folder it will import and create a new music library different from the iTunes library and should import all the playlists play counts and other info.
