Hey,

so I atrying to move my iTunes folder, loaded with lossless files, to an old ‘09 iMac to use it as a music server... straight to usb to my fancy dac.

i did what I did in the past... moved the entire iTunes folder, and pointed to it in the imacs settings for iTunes... but it doesn’t seem o see the local song file. It seems to be needing to download them using match.
how do I get my local lossless music files to be used in my iMac after moving the library?

thanks,

richard

I also have just tried making an alias to my current iTunes folder, and that seeemed to begin working, but it said that it was a newer version of iTunes than what is installed. ...

and so i went into my old time machine backup, and found an iTunes library that corresponds to my old version of iTunes, 12.8, and i dropped those files into the iTunes folder on my old iMac, and it still didn’t work...

any suggestions?

Thank you all, trying to avoid buying a new used Mac mini that allows for the current version of iTunes...

r.

Just for example, say that the version of iTunes on your iMac is v8. The iTunes Library that you have installed was created with iTunes v12. It cannot work with v8, it needs v12.

yes I realize that. I went into my old backups and found an iTunes library file of the older version iTunes, and I dropped that into the old iMac, but I got the same error message.
