Moving Mac Pro into Germany

Hello

I am a student and trying to move my Mac Pro into Germany, Koln
Anyone had moved a Mac Pro into Germany from other countries?
My mac pro seems quite new because it's only been 3 month I purchased.
A logistics I use says there will be no big problem as it ships in my personal movings with some custom charges.
So anyone would recommend me how to send Mac Pro into Germany?

I am thinking to remove most of inparts in the Mac Pro,
and covering another box over Mac Pro's original case.

Why don't you take your receipt and evidence that you're moving to Germany. Surely you can prove that you bought the machine months ago and that you've been using it?

I don't know what the rules for importing stuff is like in Germany but what you're suggesting doesn't sound like the right way to go about things.
 
Why do you want to remove most of the parts? The Mac Pro got shipped with them, flown across the world, put into some truck and such.
The only thing I would remove are the HDDs, or at least make clones of them, in case the box gets lost.
Btw, from where are you sending it to Köln?

I have seen some reviews that people removes some parts in the Mac pro for the safety issues, also put the original case into another box for the security option.
I do believe there will be no serious stealing or damaging issue, but it is true that it stresses me.
I am sending Mac Pro from S.Korea, and will be delivered in Germany by TNT.
I heard the extra tax at the German custom is expensive for imports that is high priced, so I would like to prevent getting charged,
although my box says it is a USED product.
 
some import charges? Try about 19% of what ever you claim the cost of the item is. Unless you can take it with you in the plane. You better off selling it and getting a new one in Germany...

You don't need to pay the 19% tax for used items.

However, considering the shipping prices, it might actually be worth selling it any buying a new one in Germany. How much does TNT charge for the shipping?
Must be a fortune.

OK try and play with Germany's customs agents. Here in Spain and I would suspect the rest of Europe. They go by what ever the item was claimed to be. They don't care if its new, used or declared a gift.

P.S. UPS, FedEX, TNT, etc charge a fortune because they take care of the import taxes...
 
just drive with the car , no problems whatsoever , germany and the uk are still within the european union , i never had any problems moving personal belongings between uk and germany, as the uk border control does not care if its new or used because you bought it in the uk and did pay vat , and french or belgium border control dont care either , they are to busy reading newspapers , at least on the about 100 trips in the last 8 years , i am courier driver they never did even want to see any kind of paperwork ....and the german border control ...they are more interested in finding drugs and tobacco in your car and will ignore even the most expensive equipment , if you ever get stopped by the border control at all , you must be really unlucky and have a criminal offence list for them to even consider checking you as i never had seen a border control coming from france or belgium or luxemburg
more important is to get apple care , as the standard warranty does only cover in the uk while apple care is worldwide

I have inquired to one of logistics,
they said if my computer delivered as house moving item (relocate),
I need a copy of citizen registration and proofs that I will live in germany more than 3 months (not too sure)
And the Zoll(custom) wants me to open the box, and let it goes if it looks used item..
my Mac Pro looks quite new and clean..
and may be I have to cover up the original case with something?? aww
 
Again, if you can prove that the machine is used and more than just a couple of days old, you won't have a problem with customs.

If you don't have the receipt any more (which got send by email if you bought online), tell the Zoll guys to check the serial number on the Apple support site. This will clear any uncertainties about the purchase date.
