Moving music from iPod to MBP?

I am about to purchase my very first Mac, a Macbook Pro, today.

When it gets here I would like to move the music, videos, etc. that is on my iPod 5G 60GB to the Macbook Pro. It is already disc enabled and I am currently using it with a Windows XP machine.

Any advice on how to do this?

YamiPod, there are instructions on their site (at least there used to be)

The way I did this very thing was using the Connect to Server feature that is in OS X and connect to my XP laptop and copied everything via my wireless network. It was very simple to do. You could also backup your iTunes library to disk(s) and copy them that way. I did not have Gb's of music, so it was no big deal to do it over the wireless.

Since your iPod is formatted for Windows, you need a windows machine to access it (I think). One way to do it, would be to install Parallels and windows on your mac, use a windows app to get the music off the iPod, and then simple copy the music to your mac iTunes library.

You do NOT need a windows computer to get the music off, I don't know where the misconception started with that but windows formatted ipods can absolutely be accessed by Macs with no problems. I don't know about disc mode, but I had all my music stored normally on my iPod and I transferred it over with IPodRip. The program costs money but offers a trial, you can use it ten times, and once or twice is all you need to get your music off. I used it because it preserved the playcounts, ratings, moved my playlists, and kept my album artwork (mostly). Once I was done I reformatted my iPod for Mac and reloaded it with my newly loaded library. I know there are some restrictions using a Windows formatted iPod with a Mac but you shouldn't run into them.

I forth Senuti used it last night xfered music and videos from my wifes ipod. Plus its a free program donate if you like

if you have enough space left on your iPod's hdd then just copy your iTunes folder onto the ipod and then connect it to your mac and drag the iTunes folder into the music folder. Thats what worked for me.

Oh and if you ever have to update you gotta use your Windows pc or just reformat it.
