I am curious if I can somehow unlock my phone to be USED in the new country. I currently have Blackberry Storm :( and well I prefer to know use it anymore as it is constantly lagging out and seems to me more of a laptop then a phone.

Is there a way to unlock it? and is it a program or is the Jailbreaking method for the phone that is online that I have seen.

I look forward to hearing from someone regarding the new :apple:iPhone that I am getting.

Blackberry Storm from the US on Verizon Wireless? Or another version?

If you have the Verizon one then no as it's CDMA and won't work on any network outside of the US. If it's a GSM handset then contact your carrier, each carrier has their own policies on unlocking. Not sure about any alternative methods for a Blackberry as never even touched one lol

That's pretty cool. Didn't realise that!

Sorry I misunderstood your post, I thought you were asking about your Blackberry!

If you buy an iPhone in the US it'll be locked to AT&T. You'd have to go down the Jailbreaking route to use a Saudi SIM. There's a couple european countries that sell the iPhone factory unlocked, France and Italy I believe? Also Hong Kong I think, but you have to physically visit that country as they won't ship to other countries, and also your warranty is only valid in that country.

Sorry, don't think I'm being much help haha, sorry again for misunderstanding your post :)

hehe ye no biggie :D but okay I didnt know they sold it unlocked but

if I do jailbreak it it is 2g it should work there :D that is going to be great :D heheh

btw it is Iphone 2g :D which I am hoping is easy to jailbreak so that I can use it... any body can verify this :D

See if someone in Egypt can pick one up in Saudi or Dubai for you. They are sold factory unlocked. Of course, that's only if you want to spend the money. Check the websites of Etisalat (UAE) and Mobily (SA) for the prices, they are cheaper than getting factory unlocked from dubious sources or grey imports.

The problem I often have when I travel, is finding a service provider that has a reasonable SIM only deal that can cover voice and data. I have no idea what is available in Egypt.

thanks@iphone savvy

and At

Ye I am moving to Khobar and a friend of mine has the iphone 2g with bluetooth etc on it for like 75 bucks. we were gonna buy the iphone from saudi which i thought would be great as I use the arabic keyboard alot sending notes to myhusband and stuff but the price is about 3800 riyals which is like 975 usd LOL... so 75 bucks beats 975 and my stinking BB is great but it doesnt have great SERVICE in middle east! :D I will ask my husband to check it out first before buying the iphone.

the sim card only deals in egypt are 150le or egyptian pounds in saudi it is like 150riyals :( oh well such is life
