Awaiting my m8 to arrive, been with iOS for a while and just want to try out something else for a change. I think I made the best choice , the m8 is really nice as far as build quality and software.

Moving to HTC M8 from iPhone 5

I like it, however the htc logo on the front and that section makes the device too tall IMO appearance wise. Also the glass on the front has edges you can feel when resting your fingers on it. That aside, it's a very nice phone, good specs, good build quality and a fairly un bloated android experience.
The one thing I noticed about the phone is the speed. It's Just so fast when I played with it in the store
Long story short, I just ordered the HTC One M8 (in red) today. I'm coming from an iPhone 5c (32GB) that came from a 4s (6 mo), GSIII (1yr), and a Droid Incredible (2.5 yr) .
Android came knocking and the Red M8 was calling my name. That and I have a line available for upgrade on VZW. It all started with my Droid in 2010 and then having so many issues with Samsung and my SIII that I moved to iPhone off contract with the 4s, then 5c. I liked iOS (used it since 3.1) but I just had to get that red M8,
I'm hoping this can be something I keep for more than a few months like the last, um, 5 phones I've had. Lol!

I've owned 13 different high end Android phones the past 4+ years
I would easily put the HTC One M8 in the top 3 of all of those. Over the years, my fav's have been the Note 2, Galaxy Nexus, and the One M8.
Battery life on the One M8 is great, the screen is gorgeous, the speakers are something I didn't expect I would love, but they rock. And without a case it is one slick cool looking phone

Would love that red one with WP in Red if it comes to AT&T. Love my 1520 in Red, but would also like to try the 5" form factor.

Well im back to my iphone 5. The M8 is really nice phone but Im i just like IOS too much. Its like coming back home from vacation.

To move to a different smartphone OS platform, and give it a fair chance, you need to give it the full 14 days you have, before returning it.
Android Kit Kat and Sense 6 is far and above a better system than the Fischer Price kids phone that is the iPhone IMO.
I agree, whatever floats your boat, be it iOS or Android OS. But I also think it's unfair to only give a new OS only 24 to 48hrs, that is nowhere even close to enough time to get comfortable, and figure out how it works, etc...
Going from iOS to Android, you need to give it like 2 weeks of only using that one phone, and put the iPhone locked away in drawer during that time, to really give it fair shake.

That's not true. I actually had the intention of really keeping this phone. I tried other android phones but felt the m8 was really polished and the best imo. I thought I could do away with iMessage and maybe some apps looking better. But overall I can't stand it after the first day. I mean they do the same things, but iOS is just more polished for me. Everything is built in.

It's not like this is my first time on android, I had android from 2010-2011 but switched to the 4S when it came out. Back then it was buggy, slow, laggy, you name it. These newer phones are WAY better, really fast. But it's just cluttered for me as far as integration and built in apps. iOS is still more polished . IMO. Calling iOS fisher price is a little overboard lol
You could give another android handset a try probably not worth it for you as a daily driver though. The new Motorola G off contract on the cheap is a recommendation. Most here have a decent number of smarties.
Try using a BlackBerry Z10 as your primary phone for a few weeks. That was fun! Lol! But I'm so glad to be back to Android after my 10 month iPhone run with a 4s and 5c. I've used iOS since iPhone OS 3 and an iPod touch (2009). But as of today, I now have zero iOS devices

Perhaps if a new iPod touch comes out or something, I may move to that to keep up on things.

How did you conclude you made the best choice, before you even receive it, let alone spend at least a month using it?
With that said, everyone should try an Android and iPhone, and finding out which they like best. Too many people bash something they have no experience with.
I went from an iPhone 5 to a S5 two weeks ago and so far it's all going well. I think when you make the change you just have to totally forget about iOS, although I do still have an ipad for Web browsing etc.
My wife has a iPhone 4s and I needed to use it to set up some apps for her. My word it felt like a little toy in my hand, I couldn't believe how small it felt, I just couldnt imagine using it as a phone.

like i have said on my previous posts, i have had android before for a year. 2010-2011. My point was though that android is way smoother then before but it still has the same issues that it had before.
Scrolling is still kind of hit and miss.
opening apps has a delay before it actually opens. sometimes its fast and then other times it slow. Its nitpicking i guess but it annoys me. On iOS its always consistent. Plus i thought i could let go of iMessage but looks like i can't. People don't exactly want to switch to viber or whatsapp because of me. (95% of people i know are on iOS)
app quality is fine on android, but i did miss the swipe gesture on iOS. Lock screen notifications imo are better on iOS.
