what can they do about it? Nothing comes to mind...
if it were to be established and implemented (firefox has experimental addon for this already)

1. simple 3D games cross browsers, platforms.
2. new 3 dimensional interactive with web content. a website can be like a virtual room, ads on one wall, news on another, etc

my limited imagination...

It'd do well to help standards-based HTML and Javascript win the war against Flash. No doubt that if they don't make a standard soon, Microsoft will. And that's worse.

That said, it's going to blur the lines between web and OS, and I don't like that (although I'm sure many others will).

This free and open standard will come out then a Microsoft one will come out later that will be the only one supported on Internet Exploder making developers pick once again between making it Internet Exploder or everything else compatible.
