Hi everyone. I have followed these forums for quite some in the leadup to buying my 12" Powerbook (which I finally got yesterday- woooooo! ). Its an impressive machine, and I love Os X but I am having some trouble exporting my email from my old PC to my Powerbook.

I had been running the Mozilla package for quite some time on my PC, and have collected quite a few emails that I don't wish to lose. As part of my Mac experience I want to use the supplied Apple Mail application, but I would like to take my old emails with me. I cannot find an inbuilt (or any other) way in which to export mail out of Mozilla. I have tried copying files such as the one below onto cd and then into Mail but the file (folder?) comes up as nothing recognisable.

...\APPLICATION DATA\Mozilla\Profiles\default\47ngmor5.slt\Mail\Local Folders\Inbox etc...

I have searched the sites and forums here, at macosxhints.com, at mozilla.org and have found no answers. So I put the question to you- how on earth do I get my messages over into Apple Mail from Mozilla?

Thanks for your time

In the file menu from Mail, there is an import option which you can use. When you select it, there's also a Mozilla option. After having selected this, you have to find the mailboxes. I don't know if you can select it directly on the Windows box or if you have to copy it to your Mac (like you already did), but one way or the other should work for you.

Thanks mate- I thought that the "import" option was the way to go, I just had to play around until I found the right folder for it to recognise.

While on the topic of getting setup- are there any essential things I should do before really getting into it? I mean, security settings, important software I havn't heard about. I have already been told to run 'Repair Permissions' once in a while- does anyone have a few worlds of wisdom to share?

Thanks again!
:)
