MP 3.1 + k5000 = 4k@60 ?

Planning on buying a NEC 24 uhd monitor for my MP 3.1 having a nvidia k5000 (for mac). Well, short question - Can I get OS X (10.9.4) running 4k @ 60 Hz? Have the option to use a MP 5.1 (with the same graphics card) if that will make any difference. Programming cuda and is therefore resistant on buying a new MP until apple have an nvidia option.

It is "funny" that apple is claiming 4k 60Hz on their website. I assume the settings is only working when running windows in bootcamp. Thus, the "Superior results" apple is claiming is only achieved when using... windows. Hilarious.

It's only when using the hardware they sell. They have crippled the software so it will not work with nVidia cards in Mac OSX without MVC's work arounds and fiddles.

Whilst not agreeing to this idea, anyone in their position would probably do the same to sell more of the nMP.

Not everyone. Moreover, you can buy the K5000 for mac on apple's website as an accessory for older Mac Pros, where they state properties which cannot be achieved. Why even bother to sell upgrades or upgradeable products if they do not want people to upgrade? Unfortunately I really like the OS, otherwise I would go back to some linux distro.

They are not stating anything wrong. The card can acheive it. The problem is with Apple. Not nVidia.

They state the full technical specification of the card. Nothing more. They are taken direct from the nVidia web site.
