MP 1,1-5,1 MP 3,1 PCIE issue

Hello all,

A while back I bought an hd 5770 for my MP 3,1. I went through the process of patching High Sierra onto the mac, however now whenever I switch the new gpu to a different pcie slot (the main x16 slot) the gpu will no longer display. The old gpu (the one that came with the og mac pro 2008) was in that slot when I patched it. Did I mess something up, or is this just a common issue?

Does it not display during boot or not display at all period?

Nothing at all. Also putting in any other pcie accessory makes it not boot at all. I can't move the gpu to the 3rd slot either. I'm completely stumped

I patched high sierra with the 2600xt in the first slot, and the 5770 in the second. I doubt that would do anything though
