MP 1,1-5,1 MP 5,1 Motherboard interface

Hi all this should be dead easy but....

I have a 5,1 Mac Pro mid 2010. As you are prolly aware this has processor and memory on a daughterboard
allowing a choice of single and dual processor devices withe varying power and costs. For troubleshooting reasons, otherwise unexplained, I need to replicate the plug/socket interface between the boards as shown on the attached image. You would think this was a simple query, but nobody in the connector world has a clue, and even the Apple helpline were stumped as to where to find this simple component.

FYI its about 9cm long, rectangular, has 42 x 9 pins. This sounds like a lot of pins but only about 30 odd are connected so its not as frightening as it looks.

Any hardware gurus out there can point me in the right direction I will say a prayer for you.

Typically, if the processor tray is faulty, most guys find used ones to replace them with. Never heard of anyone just replacing the connector, but that's not to say impossible. The amount of work in reconnecting this probably outweighs the cost of buying a whole cpu tray. What issue are you having that's requiring you to need just the connector?

Glancing at your photo, it looks like your Northbridge plastic rivets are broken... this might be the root of your issues....

A little Caig DeOxit sprayed into the female socket might do the trick if there is a bad connection.

Definitely one NorthBridge heatsink rivet missing. Look for the " rivet spring "

This will work in an emergency - use the missing "rivet spring".
Of course, clean the heatsink with isopropal alcohol and re-apply a good thermal paste to the heatsink.

I'm impressed Alex saw the rivet issue from the picture. You'll want to fix that first.

I don't know why you'd want to change the connector, unless pins were broken, but pins are on the Backplane side.
How is to change it is another question entirely.

I don't think it is a single connector. There are multiple smaller connectors...

There is definitely ONE metal " spring" from the broken plastic rivet rolling around in your CPU Tray / cMP case . .. . definitely something to worry about, find & remove with the Mac Pro powered down with the power cable removed.
