Hi guys,
I'm having serious problems with my Mac Pro 2008. I will try to be as brief as possible, cause it's a long/strange story. I have had this computer (A1186 - 2113) for several years and have never had any major problems, obviously with the weight of the years it has become obsolete and I have abandoned it. About a year ago, however, I asked a friend if he wanted to waste time trying to improve or upgrade it. So he puts 2x Intel Xeon x5355, an MSI GTX 670, an SSD and upgraded the RAM to 32GB and other small improvements like USB hubs etc.. and I assume he installed some type of hackintosh (cause it was running El Capitan and some "strange" nvidia drivers) but all in all the machine was doing pretty well (for a backup computer) even if the OS was not very stable as expected. It has always worked without major problems apart from sudden shutdowns or freezes or OS bugs. Everything was fine until a few days ago I moved the studio, and so the Mac Pro, in the new office. With the opportunity I had in mind to clean up the Mac (internal and external) and maybe install Windows or some more stable OS on the SSD. So after cleaning it, I opened it, I removed the old 750GB HDD (only for trash/old files) and the new 120GB SSD (with El Capitan inside) and i formatted it. I also blew air on fans, CPU heat sink, RAM slots, MB, ... and and a light brush stroke. I re-insert only the formatted SSD and closed everything. I was ready to create some Windows/macOS bootable USB pen but for safety first I have decided to boot it up for a second to check that everithing was fine (even if there was no OS, I thought at least the Apple logo or a screenshot of the "BIOS" should have appeared). I plugged the AC cord, clicked the power button and the Mac made no chime, and the fans started spinning at full speed (with no output video) so much so that I got scared and immediately pressed and hold the power button to turn it off. I have inquired and have already tried anything, but nothing, there's no chime and the fans goes full speed forever. I tried the SMC, cleaning RAM slots and one RAM moudule each, powering on with only 4GB, cleaning CPU heat sink and thermal paste with a new one, swapping CPU each in the slot of the other, booting with only 1 CPU, removing all the fans (two at the front and the rear one), changing MB battery (CR2032), disonnecting SSD, Optical Drive, removing GPU, changing GPU from 670 to 560Ti, reset RTC, etc... the Led of the power button at the front lights up and remains fixed, but again, there's no chime, no output video, and fans goes crazy. On the issue of the output video actually I did not expect it to be seen, as without a driver I think the Mac does not recognize nvidia cards (or maybe yes?), but at the limit I could try to restore its original. The problem is that it practically does not boot up, and it didn't even recognize mouse and keyboard (the leds of m/k does not turn on). I'm really in total trouble because I need the Mac for some type of works. What can I try to do? And if you need ask me anything, I can answer everything. Sorry for bad english btw

I can’t help really you but what is the state of the diagnostic LEDs on the logic board?
Is 2008 the 1,1 model? I have one of those briefly and found it very finicky after doing almost those exact upgrade. I did the Xeons, the video card, and ordered ECC ram from the bay. I had so much trouble mixing and matching the Ram chips and slots to get it to run properly.
anyway, all that to say these machines can be divas. Post your led status and someone should be able to help.

Oh and did you do a CUDA reset?

Yeah i think is the 1,1 model. The label on the rear part of the case says "A1186 - EMC 2113", i looked in everymac and it's the 2008 Mac Pro ID1,1. For LEDs do you mean the one under the PCIe slot of the GPU? (look in the pic). Those leds does turn on only when i connect the AC cord into the Mac, they turn on for half a second (only the first two CPU A and CPU B leds) then i click on the power button and the fans starts spinning super fast with no chime. No LEDs does turn on when i click on the power button after connecting the AC cord. The other way they turn on is when (with the Mac on) i click on the little button near the leds that says "SMC RST" (look the second pic). When i click that button again the two upper CPU A and B leds does turn on for half a second and the machine shuts down. I don't know if it could be helpful for you. Also: I have no idea of what's a CUDA reset ?

I have the same problem. I got my Mac Pro 1,1 for free and I don't know how to fix this issue. The Diagnostic LEDs are displayed in the same way as the user @TheMatx18 showed.
I tried anything: changing RAM, changing GPU port, unplugged and plugged every cable on MOBO... still the same issue.
