MP3 Editor software for mac

can anyone reccomend a MP3 editor software, something like Peak, that process the MP3 file directly without having to convert to audio.

Basically i need something where i can edit the waveform of my mp3 file.
It'd be even more ideal, if i could record straight to mp3, using proprietary settings

n2mp3 lets you record direct to MP3, but so far I have yet to figure out how to make those MP3s readable by iTunes. Any idea?

SparkME will do it quite nicely. little brother to a real nice high-end editor, and it's free.
