Before I get flamed, yes, I googled and did not find anything. So I thought asking the forum might provide a better or definitive answer.

Is there an app or hack that allows the alarm clock to play MP3's when it goes off? Why wouldn't the iPhone be able to do this when the iPod and all other cell phones do?

I did the ring tone trick but it seems ridiculous to have to convert a file just so you can get it to play as your alarm sound.

Thanks for any help or advice!

The only way I know of is to make a ringtone of the song. That's how I've been doing it since day 1.

I was going to suggest converting to a ringtone but look like you did that already. :)

You might have an idea for a new app! Let us know when you are done creating it. :)

If only I knew how...

Yeah, I've converted an MP3 to a ringtone but you can do about 40 seconds. You see, I'm a very heavy sleeper. I have multiple alarms at home including my iPod. But I travel a lot for work and I'd like to just be able to bring the iPhone with me.

And if I knew how to create such an app, I would!! Unfortunately, I have no idea how to do that and I'm not sure if it's a good idea for me to try. lol.
