I know there is a difference in cpu temps between A and B in almost all Mac Pros I had on my hand.
But I have an 4,1->5,1 that I'm playing with different CPU pairs, lidded/delidded etc...
The difference on A/B is about 5-6c degree at idle and more than 10c at full load stressing.
Also I touched both heatsinks and B is not very hot, almost lukewarm but Heatsink of CPU A can't be touched more than few seconds without getting burned.
Checked fans, and boostA and boostB are on the same RPM level (about 1300-1400rpm) when stress testing but the difference seem so much more.
Also I exchanged the CPUs between A-B slot and even tested another pair of the same X5675 and it all times A is much more hotter than B to the point of lukewarm B and burned finger after few seconds A.
Any thoughts? Is there a way to lower the Temp of slot A ?
In the picture you can see the sensors when stress testing, and in that iteration I use delidded CPUs in both slots, Slot A has arctic MX-2 paste Slot B has a generic white thermal paste that I use for general electronics requirements (power transistors, mosfets, etc...)

I have even tried delidded CPU A and lidded CPU B with the same results, and I've found out that lidded vs dellided has almost no effect on the temps

Also test with the side cover mounted, the air tunnel needs to be closed.
Ah, that just slipped out of my head, I always take tunnel effects on air-cooling but this time slipped my mind.
I use a BT mouse/keyb with a bcm94360CD card and I'm waiting for the longer sma cable to replace the one on the BT antenna PCB, so I have taped the antenna on the front side of the case until the cable arrive and getting the side cover on, disrupts the signal.
Thanks!
