MP4 iTunes Conversion?

I remember hearing that Mp4 might be included in iTunes in the future. Will I be able to convert my existing library to Mp4 or will I have to rerip all of my Cds? And will the iPod be compatible with it, will it simply be a software upgrade? When may be see this, the reason I ask this is because I am running out of space on my iPod and I dont have enough green for a new iPod. Any help would be appreciated!!! Thanks in advance!!!

you will have to re-rip your music collection. most likely, there will be a software update for the ipod that will allow you to play mp4 (aac). this thread covers pretty much the same info...

your guess is as good as mine about when itunes will support aac ripping.
