Hi All,

I have and MP4 which I added to my Itune's library. I open in the file in the quicktime application (be it very very slowly). HOwever when I try to sync my IPOD I recevie a message stating that it cannot sync this file as the IPOD cannot play it.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this would be great!!!!

Much apprecaited

Damn noooobs just kidding. I don't know if this will work, but here is my two cents:

Right click the movie in iTunes, and select "Convert selection for iPod/iPhone"

That should do it. There are different versions of the Codec used by macintosh systems (h.264 main / h.264 iPod). I had the same problem a little while back trying to get a video to sync and it wouldn't budge. I tried dragging it, copying it, whatever I could. As soon as I converted it, it synced like everything else.

Thanks for your reply.

I tired this before but to no avail. I've read on my forums that another option is downloading a converter and converting the file. My only questions is that I thought MP4 files were already Ipod compatiable.

Well I doubt re-converting it will do anything, after all -- that's what the iTunes option does. It converts the iTunes compatible file to something that should specifically be compatible with an ipod.

I wonder why it will not play on the ipod, though. Even some music of mine says that it will not copy, despite being an mp3 like any other. I think there may possibly be data corruption that causes it. Maybe it's so subtle that there doesn't seem to be anything wrong when the computer plays it, but the ipod won't be able to.

Funny - I'm having the same problem. Files created with Handbrake which I'm sure have transferred to my 5G ipod before, won't transfer any more - the ipod can't play this type of file apparently !!. I've even tried Handbrake's low-res version to no avail.

Anyone else having this problem ?

I'd download a converter and convert to MP3 anyway, and see what happens.

Try this: got to movies, click on your video, go to 'Advanced' on the upperleft corner and scroll down to 'Create Ipod or Iphone Version' and click it. Hope this helps cause it worked for me..
