I have been running on a Tibook 667mhz for quite a while now. I really want to upgrade to a new MBP (mid level 15"). When they came out, I was a bit suprised they were only 32bit. I know this dosent matter in most situations, but for my work, 4GB+ ram would be awesome. Is it likley that the next release cycle will see 64bit? Or will it probably be a speed bump? I used to be all up to date on this stuff, but I have been out of the loop for a while. Has Intel announced any processors beyond the core2duo that may be coming out in the next 6months?

It's not a house, it's a home.

Core 2 Duo MBP's are 64Bit.

Hmmm I thought I read somewhere that it was a 32bit version...

But then why is there a 3GB ram limit?

Its because of the C2D - i don;t think it has anything to do with it being 32 or 64 bit.

3GB has nothing to do with 32 bit or 64bit... you can stick 4GB in there, it'll only recognize 3.3GB...

that wont change until the santa rosa chipset comes out... in 2007

the next chip is not coming out in the next 6 months (even if it does, given how MBP updates, you won't get it)
