Apple prices the 5700 XT MPX module right around $1,000 and that price is actually better currently than trying to find a standard 5700 XT GPU. Is it really worth buying Apple's version of this card for my newly acquired 7,1? I will be running an LG Ultrafine 5K, and also setting up Boot Camp for native Windows 10 experience for gaming. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcomed!

Another question: It looks like the 7,1 I just received has the Radeon 580x MPX module installed, but that card only has HDMI inputs. i thought that MPX module would have thunderbolt 3 inputs so I could connect the LG 5k ultrafine directly.

They’re hdmi outputs not inputs.

just connect the display to one of the four tb3 ports on the Mac itself (ie near the USB-a ports or on the top)

Routing video to the built in tb3 ports is half the point of mpx modules compared to regular pcie

OH! wow very cool, I did not know that's how that worked, but something inside told me ... thanks!

It's worth going the Apple W5700X for many reasons, including the four additional TB3/USB-C ports, plus twice the VRAM of a standard 5700 XT.

That, and you can find it at Apple RRP which as noted is probably better than a regular gaming card right now. Also doesn't require the Belkin AUX power cable kit.

Cool - Ok! Ordered it and it's currently much cheaper than any other regular 5700 XT GPU you can find right now!
