I know it's deprecated, but I keep seeing people report "no problems" with MS Excel 2011 in High Sierra. It does seem to work fine for the most part, but it seems like I can no longer "save as" another format, like CSV, etc. That option is just plain missing in the Save dialog window.

Does anyone else run into this problem? I'm trying to figure out if there's another incompatibility issue with some other app, or if it's just High Sierra.

I just opened a new file in Excel 2011 for Mac using High Sierra 10.13.2 . When I select to save and choose the "file format" I can see the file options including the one for Comma Separated Values (.csv). Maybe there is some other issue you are having relating to the specific file you are trying to save.

Thanks! I'll try to track down the problem then.

Every time I see a post like this, I first question I always ask is "What version of Office 2011 are you running? Is it the latest version, V14.7.7?

Ok I figured out the problem, partly due to *something* that changed with High Sierra and how it interacts with Excel (yes, I *am* going there) and partly due to a "duh" reaction on my part. This seems specific to Excel (yes, it's the latest 2011 v14.7.7). The Save window doesn't open "all the way" and the place where you select file type is effectively hidden.

The "fix" is just to drag the window to make it larger.

Thanks for everyone's feedback. It put me on the right path.

I’ve had other problems with Excel 2011 on High Sierra too, like clicking on the the red quit button doesn’t always quit the window.

Works fine in Sierra on the same machine. Excel 2016 works perfectly on High Sierra.
