High Sierra will run 64 bit Apps only.Dumb question: Why not?
Dumb question: Why not?
Microsoft is not blocking Office 2011 from running in High Sierra. However, as the link in the post above mine references, Microsoft will not be fixing any bugs related to 10.13, and won't support Office 2011 at all after October 10, 2017.10.13 will run 32-bit apps. Microsoft is explicitly not supported Office 2011 on HS. Going as far as having 2011 refuse to even launch on it. You must be using Office 2016 if you want to use Office on High Sierra.
10/10/17 is the end of support date. Our final 2011 update will be in September 12th. Also, 2011 will be hard-blocked from installing or running on OS' later than 10.12.x
Paul later posted that they backed off that block. It runs as of now in the beta with the update released yesterday.Microsoft is, they added a block back in the March update that prevents it from even opening. This statement came directly from the Office for Mac team. A quote from Paul, the manager of Office for Mac:
(From June 5).yes, after much deliberation and discussion with multiple parties, we decided not to hard block 2011 on 10.13
I'm sure, and given that security updates will be no more at about the time 10.13 ships, it'd be pretty foolhardy to continue using Office 2011.It'd still likely be very buggy and crash prone. Much like 2011 was for 10.11 and 10.12 before it was updated.
Would you please elaborate on what features are missing in Office 2016? I am looking at transitioning from 2011 to 2016.I am very surprised that Microsoft supported 2011 for so long. I hope they continue to and may be in their best interest to do so because currently Office for Mac 2016 does not have all the features that 2011 has. If they cut off support for it in High Sierra, then many who have not updated will not be able to work due to the limitations of the current Office 2016 for Mac.

Wow, lots of great info here. Thank you, I have some decisions to make now.
Two of those links are from 2015 when Office 2016 first came out. The third is also a year old. According to the graphs, only two lesser used features are missing from Word 2016 and everything else they checked is in both 2011 and 2016. Do note that with every monthly update, Microsoft is bringing more features to Office 2016.
