Reading info on the 2011 version, says you need MAC OS 10.6.8; I have 10.6.5 I think, so it would not be compatible? Also, if adding this will not allow me to edit current PC docs I have, it will be useless. I already purchased something called icXL and icWord, but it only allowed me to OPEN pc docs, not edit them. They were nice enough to refund me, however.

Its 10.5.8, not 6.8. I've been using it on my sister's macbook (which did have 10.5.8 at the time) with no issue.
I've been using Office 2011 since it came out. I find that it works really well, seamless when working on the same doc as others using PC based Office.
Also Office for Mac 2011 is a much better all round product with pretty much the same functionality as MS Office 2010 (PC) whereas 2008 (Mac) wasn't as good as 2007 (PC)

I do not think so. They get a lot of money because people only want one or two of their products. But if they put it in a package, then the consumers have to spend the extra money on the package. Then when they start to use the program that they didn't want to use in the first place, they find out that they might use it a little more than they thought.
Yeah, you're probably right. That sucks. I have Office 2007 for PC at work and would like to have Outlook for OS/X so I can VPN to the office and get my work email. Apple Mail is too advanced for the version of Exchange my company uses so it won't interface.
iWork is just fine for my productivity needs which is why I don't want to spend the extra money for the full MS Office suite.
I love Microsoft Office 2011 on the Mac. I actually think it works better on the Mac than in Windows 7.
You'd have the same problem with Outlook 2011. It needs Exchange 2007 or 2010 at the back end. For this very reason I'm still using Entourage/Office 2008 from the Mac. Entourage is so slow and clunky it's usually quicker to Citrix in.
I'm helping to evaluate Windows 7/Office 2010 at work. Outlook 2010 is growing on me. I miss a lot of the features when I'm back on the 2003 version.
That's good to know too. I guess it would have been a waste of money to buy it anyway. I talked to our email admin and the server my account is on, is running *cough* Exchange 2000. Nothing like keeping up with the times.

We're on Exchange 2003, and will jump straight to 2010. The server hardware just got ordered this week.
There's technical reasons it why Outlook 2011 and Mail/iCal won't work on older exchange versions. Entourage never used "proper" Exchange, it bodged a way in through the back door via Outlook Web Access (email via Web Browser).
