Uni prof in UK. Have a new M1 MBA and uni offers Office 365 sub where I can install MS Office on my new machine.

No use of Rosetta mentioned like with Zoom installation.

Installed in about 5 mins.

Opened MS Word. Activated Office 365 license. MS Office version is 16.43 (20110804).

Works fine. Rosetta usage NOT shown during install OR first usage. No launch delay either. Seemless.

No idea how to confirm. Hope you find this info useful.

if you opt in for the beta program you can get the m1 version of office
no need. seems to be running flawless even with the 800-page Word document I just opened.

I'd rather stay on the mainstream stuff as when I can't electronically do something easy like a sign a document, it wastes my time.

Can't imagine there's any optimisation to be gained really.

I believe you only get the Rosetta prompt the first time you run an Intel app. If you installed Zoom first then that'll have installed Rosetta, and therefore Office would 'just run' without having to install Rosetta again.

I believe that About This Mac/System Report/Applications shows which apps are Intel and which are Universal.

Edit: 16.43 supports running on M1 devices, but it's still Intel based. You can read it here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...b69-bdc0-2bb4c9a36834?ui=en-us&rs=en-us&ad=us

Congrats!

Have similar need to run Office. Glad to see it’s running smoothly.

Anyone is a Spark user for mail ? They have an amazing iOS app so I am hoping the transition to native M1 will be quick

Actually, my university (UK) is Google-based. pretty solid actually and they push all of the timetables to Google calendar. Very useful for staff.
