I got a new mSATA ZIF adapter and a formatted SSD card. This is the second one, and it does not work in any of my iPod Classics. It says to connect to the computer for a restore, but it never shows up on my MacBook Pro. Then, it does not appear in the Finder window; it says "Don't disconnect." About three minutes later, the Apple logo appears, followed by the sad face icon.
I’ve used my HDD, and it works fine. It’s just which so frustrating. I’ve also used the menu and select to put it in DFU mode and tried a different Mac, but it still doesn’t work. I have a new battery, and the ribbon cable is locked in correctly. I don’t know what’s going on. I need help.

I would try swapping the ribbon cable. They can get damaged when they are flexed after being bent in the same shape for many years. If that doesn't help, then probably a problem with the adapter or SSD. What kinds are they?
