I was flicking through PC Authority the other day and one article caught my eye. It was talking about the best products of 2005 and the best chat app was a tie between MSN MEssenger and Yahoo! Messenger . Anyway, the last sentence caught my eye.

"Both applications are as feature packed as each other, so which ever one you choose to use depends on what your friends use, but that will be irrevelent soon as the two will become compatible next year."

Is that true? MSN and Yahoo protocols becoming one?If so, the IM game is becoming very interesting (ICQ and AOL becoming one, MSN and Yahoo becoming one, Google jumping in with "open" solution...).
