or on a jailbroken iphone - download 'fring' which is an excellent mulit-IM platform - it handles MSN messenger excellently and can make VOIP calls and such too

Piling onto this -- does anyone know of a multi-protocol IM app that's being written that will be available through AppStore?

I just had a question for anyone using these services regularly. Do they keep you signed-in? I don't have a data plan so I've only used programs like Fring or Apollo to see how they work/look. I'm interested in seeing if the Apps keep you signed into the programs and if the website versions (like BeeJive) do as well.

This is my main complaint about the official AIM app in the app store. I know that 3rd party apps can't run in the background, but if you set AIM not to sign you off on exit, theoretically it's supposed to cache your messages, but when you come back they're blank..

edit: Hmm, this just reminded me to go test the AIM app, and it seems to be working fine. Maybe it's been fixed, or maybe the bug only happens sometimes.. weird.

Yes, I think it's MobileChat or something. They have a jailbreak native out now, but they're working on an app store version.
